THE SHOVEL STABBED INTO THE DIRT, digging deep beneath the soil. Livia scooped it up and threw it aside with the flick of her wrists, continuing to work in the field.

After the punishment yesterday, Livia had returned to her cabin and remained there. She was doing her best to avoid Volstagg, as well as her own guards.

It had confused her and conflicted her in many ways. Her attraction towards Volstagg was haunting and it had lingered long after the moment had passed.

It was a bad idea, she knew it. But she could not stop thinking about him. The way he moved, the way he touched her. His scent, his breath, and his demeanour. Everything about him made her crazy. And the punishment only served to intensify that.

Alfred, from across the way, had dropped off the saplings and plants, so Livia had thrown herself into the task. Working hard to keep her mind focused on planting them.

“Where do you want this?” came a voice from behind her. She dropped the shovel in surprise and turned to see Porl smiling at her, along with another guard who she recognized as the one called Stefan. Together, they were carrying a long plank of wood with something on it, covered over by a sheet.

Killion.

“There, will be fine,” she said, wiping her brow and smearing dirt across it.

Without another word, the two guards dumped the body on the ground by the front of the porch and then sauntered away, back towards town.

Livia made sure that the body was completely covered by the sheet. She thought about getting back to work and planting the rest of the saplings, but she knew that she had to go find the others and let them know about Killion.

She went inside the cabin for a quick wash and then changed into fresh clothing. After that, she went into town to seek out Gannicus, Maximus, and Rufus.
